It’s started to be seen some major changes on employee profiles with the development and usage of internet. Especially young generation used and increased the usage of internet in their work life, private life. Besides the popular web sites, some applications such as instant messaging, social networking, online video resumes, shared networks brought a different dynamism to business environments. When we also add mobile applications to these, then we can see that this dynamism is spreading very rapidly.
In the enterprises, managers are filtering some applications on internet, in order to keep the information and network security with their enterprise applications, and also limit on intranet applications. Intranet applications create a high value in institutional effectiveness. But, it takes too much time to adapt to these applications and to create an attractivenes for continuous usage to young generation,
With the start of using popular internet applications on intranets, will require new definitons of new processes and also will increase the usage rate. For example, a company called “Serena Software” brought popular internet application “Facebook” as an intranet application by leading the market and focused to small and medium companies use. Using Facebook as an intranet application creates some lacks while it brings many benefits for the enterprise. Particularly, it is necessary to use different systems for information security. But on the other hand, it is a fact that it brings great savings with functions such as instant messaging and sharing.
Who does not use an application;
* which is free,
* where employees know how to use,
* that is common for all platforms and has very widespread features,
* which gives message to the employees about the importance of communication and interaction,
* which addresses the young generation,
* which helps to develop more open and modern culture,
* that is in web environment,
* which attracts the daily media and press.
It is seen that, young and future generations’ internet applications in their private lives, will start to be placed in business life. The search for a different solution will continue in order to utilize the benefits of sharing the information and expertise. New web technologies will bring new blended benefits to our private and business lives for use.
It seems that, a new trend will appear with a start of a new culture by using popular applications as enterprise applications. This cultural expansion will cause new approaches and changes in rules with each new young generation.
