Simple is the best


Every fact in our life proceeds to find its balance in itself and to be equalized. Everything that we called “the best” comes from the simplest approaches. It is also seen in the Albet Einstein’s principles. In his approaches Einstein believes the universe chooses the simplicity. We also see this fact in his theories and hypothesis, and there is no need to resist to this belief.

We can see the best example about simplicity in personal computers. Need to connect with legacy applications and integration, created backward compatibility and made the personal computers more difficult and complex than we are expected. That’s why, Apple products became more successful products. The products such as Iphone and Ipod proved their successes because of their simple and easy usage.

Some people have special skills to make the things more complex and difficult. We can see this picture where especially for the managers who took wrong decisions and tried to convince everybody that they were right.

We can easily see when we compare the old and new management of Yahoo. Old management, made continuous organizational changes and created discomfort in the company; but with the new management’s style and simple approach Yahoo became more healthy. We can see this also in Sun; more than 9 restructing happened, after all these results were not good and at the end Oracle has acquired.

For some people, simplicity seems very easy. Lou Gerstner’s transformation success in IBM from company’s traditional vision to IT services is one of his successes. Gerstner’s plan was bright and simple in comparison to company’s restructuing in old vision. And he was very successfull on this.

It was very hard for the Google founders to establish the company and go forward. They were not even thinking about “search” was a big business. But, the support of Yahoo’s founder to establish a company of “search-engine”, was a new start of their life. Who could think about such a simple thing could earn a lot of money?

That means, where simplicity and main capabilities bring very successfull results, then complex ( such as matrix organizations, etc. ) approaches result failures.

Shortly, be simple in management and take simplicity as a basic step. If some of the things become very complex, then change your assumptions and approaches, and try again. Do not forget, the best things in life comes from the simple things.
